We are urging all eligible veterans to submit claims under the federal PACT Act by the the above date. Eligible Veterans who are suffering from illnesses related to exposure to toxic substances during their service are able to file claims.

The legislation now presumes certain illnesses to be service-connected for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other hazardous substances in expanded geographical locations. Under a clause of the law, veterans who file a claim within one year of the law’s passage can receive retroactive payments dating back to the law’s enactment Aug. 10, 2022. Under this law, if you file after Aug. 9, you’ll only get back pay to the date of filing, not to the date of enactment of the law.

The act has expanded coverage to veterans after the Vietnam era, particularly those serving in the Persian Gulf, with conditions such as tinnitus, rhinitis and IBS. Though not listed as presumptive, post-traumatic stress disorder has seen a rise in identification and diagnosis among veterans.
