Invest in the Youth
House of Samaritans offers local programs and activities within the community where we operate. These programs are set up to optimize its efficacy via spiritual, physical, and emotional services. We work alongside community leaders and/or parents and at times local groups. With the involvement of already trusted locals, we work with the youth by initiating dynamically fruitful programs that would make them healthy, happy, cheerful and successful. We are so excited to have created a very successful program called “Children’s Wellness Program”. Our Children’s Wellness Program is divided into four(4) categories:
Health and Welfare
Education/Academic
Nutrition
Fun Activities
How Our Program Works
1. We find a local fun activity. We work with local groups or community leaders. These leaders use the most fun activities to suit the needs of the children. We also try to get the entire family involved, because this is a great way for them to spend time together.
2. We choose an activity that is developmentally appropriate. We set up soccer leagues, basketball tournaments, bicycle riding, and swimming which are all appropriate activities.
3. We Plan ahead. Make sure your child has a convenient time and place to exercise.
4. We provide a safe environment. Make sure each child's equipment and chosen site for the sport or activities are safe.
5. We provide interactivity games. Young children especially, need easy access to sports, jump ropes, and other activities.
Nutrition Programs
3 out of 10 children around the world do not have clean water and hot meals at school. Proper and adequate nutrition given to children, influences brain development, behavior correctness, and a remarkable attention span. We gracefully and wholeheartedly fill the gaps by being in the company of such a strong significance of this unit of society.
Building activity Programs
We build local programs designed to offer immediate active development, relief and short-term care that leads to long-term growth in the areas that will best benefit the community of children. Studies show that 1 in 3 children are physically active every day. In some places, less than 50% of children spent time in sports practice, games, and physical education classes that involves moving enough to be considered physical activity.
ACADEMIC EDUCATION
Education goes beyond what takes places within the four corners and walls of the classroom. Students also get their education from experiences outside an academic institution, as well as from the society in which they find themselves. The sole purpose of education, is to provide the fullest possible development of each learner for living morally, creatively, and productively in their society.
Sanitation Education program
Sanitation Education is important for all, so helping to maintain a healthy lifestyle, greatly increases a child’s life-span. However, it is especially important for children. Around the world, over 800 children under age five die every day from preventable diarrhea-related diseases caused by lack of access to clean water, sanitation and poor hygienic environments. Most times, the sanitation classes are taught with the Dental Hygiene classes.
Dental hygiene Program
Dental hygiene should begin when the child is a baby. Start by using a soft child-size toothbrush around the ages of 1 or 2 years old. You should brush your child's teeth with the recommended toothpaste and water at least twice a day. You also can add a small dab of toothpaste that doesn't have fluoride in it. We have gone into these countries, where we work, to identify children needing either immediate dental care or simple dental hygiene education. We set up teaching sessions and provide toothbrushes during these sessions. We are currently working on a program, that will work with local dentists, that would allow them to volunteer their services to these children in need.
